INIAV also assumes a central role in the promotion and conservation of animal and plant national genetic resources, through the implementation and maintenance of living collections and national Germplasm banks, namely: the Portuguese Animal Germplasm Bank (with DGAV), located in Santarém - Portugal; the Portuguese Plant Germplasm Bank, located in Braga - Portugal; and National reference collections: vines -national ampelographic collection, olive and fruit trees.

Filipa Ferreira
I am a laboratory technician since 2009. I have initiated my career working in water microbiology but I have been transferred to the Reproduction and Embryology Laboratory. Presently, I am doing research in assisted reproduction, namely in IVF and in embryo and gamete cryopreservation. I am involved in the animal genetic resources conservation and the Portuguese Animal Germplasm Bank (BPGA) management. Currently I am a doctoral student in the area of reproduction, studying the benefit of mitochondriotropic antioxidants and their impact on mitochondrial (dys)function, on fertilization and its implications for assisted reproduction.
